Ex-Nigeria international, Ifeanyi Udeze has applauded the performance of Super Eagles fringe players in action against Algeria over the weekend in Constantine.
The former West Bromwich Albion of England defender, Udeze spoke to brila.net’s Anthony Bekederemo earlier today and he was full of praise for the fringe players.
“The players justified the Coach’s position, and it’s good how our fringe players were almost getting a win away in Algeria,” says Udeze.
“We all saw the match, executed by mostly new and fringe players, they made it difficult for Algeria on their own soil in front of their own fans”, Its a beautiful one.
Players like John Ogu, Etebo, Nwaekeme, and Hull city’s Olaoluwa Aina had impressed the former Super Eagles defender.
Udeze was full of praise for Ola Aina, “Aina played well, he gave his best even though he’s a natural right back”. These guys need to blend more and be given the needed support to excel.
Udeze, who was a member of the 2002 Korea/Japan world cup under Coach Adegboye Onigbinde was however in short of words when asked about the goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
“Ezenwaaaaaa”, Udeze emphasized the FC Ifeanyi Ubah goaltender’s name in a suspicious manner.
“Ezenwa is a good guy, I think he tried as well, but he really needs to work on his aerial duels, his aerial calculations and he needs to talk more to his defenders”.
Communication is key, The goalkeeper needs to continually communicate with his backline for the whole duration.
The Super Eagles will at 5 pm tomorrow take on Argentina in an international friendly against right in the city of Krasnodar, Russia.
