Ex-international, Ifeanyi Udeze has suggested that the NFF technical crew should hold a sort of open camp in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia.
The former WBA of England defender, Udeze voiced his opinion while speaking on the Brila FM’s Sports Machine earlier today. He spoke against the idea of a veteran, Sam Sodje who advised the Team handlers to stick to the current team.
The former Super Eagles defender in his words explained the essence and meaning of ‘open camp’ saying its opening up of the training camp to all professionals, from there, the team handlers would be able to pick one or two top players as alternatives against any last minute casualty.
Udeze said the essence of the open camp is not to eliminate the current squad but provide the team of necessary backup and alternatives in the case of injuries or any unfortunate situation that might occur just before the world cup next year.
Ifeanyi Udeze was a member of the 2002 Korea/Japan Super Eagles world cup squad led by Chief Adegboye Onigbinde. He went on to represent the Super Eagles till 2006 when a stubborn knee injury forced him out of the game.
The 37-year-old Ex-international also represented PAOK Thessaloniki, AEK Athens, both of Greece and West Bromwich Albion of England during his career.
