Former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Udeze, has applauded the efforts of the NFF after securing a very top profile friendly game for the Super Eagles in preparation for the FIFA world cup holding in Russia in 2018.
The former West Bromwich Albion defender expressed his delight on hearing the news over the weekend. “We all can see that the NFF means business, they have kept their promise,” Udeze told Brila FM.
Udeze spoke exclusively on Brila FM’s Breakfast show earlier today, this kind of top-notch friendlies will go a long way to help the team build well ahead of the World Cup in Russia next year.
“I really want to thank the NFF for this first-class friendly they have organized; this is to show that we are really getting set for the World Cup as playing this kind of friendly will keep the players in shape and make them understand the kind of opponents to expect at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, the former PAOK Thessaloniki and AEK Athens of Greece defender also singled out the Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo for some praise.
“Ighalo is doing really well currently and that’s why he remains the best striker we have at the moment” If he keeps up with his current form, we will confident going into the tournament next year.
Odion Ighalo scored his 15th league goal of the season and was the Man of the Match as his club Changchun Yatai beat Jiangsu Suning 3-1 yesterday.
Ighalo’s club is now comfortably eighth on the Chinese Super League table with 38 points from 28 matches.
The Nigeria striker drew his team level after 29 minutes and then assisted for their third goal in the 82nd minute.
The Changchun Yatai skipper is now 10goals behind the league’s leading scorer Eran Zahavi of Guangzhou R&F.
