Nigeria international Uchenna Kanu wins the US Women’s Premier Soccer League title with Pensacola.
Uchenna Kanu was on the scoresheet as Pensacola defeated Utah Royals Reserves 4-3 after extra time to claim the American women’s championship.
Pensacola came into the match on a backfoot as a Mikayla Colohan goal gave Utah Royals an early lead.
They got back into the match in the second half though as Briana Morris canceled Colohan’s opener barely two minutes after second half began but would concede again in the 60th minute as Cameroon Tucker regained the lead for Utah.
Six minutes later, Ana Paula Silva netted the equalizer and then Kanu got a goal for herself to put Pensacola in front.
Tucker scored again for Utah in the 89th to put the game in stalemate and send it into extra time, while in extra time, Morris hit her brace-which was the match winner and ended the seven-goal thriller which gave unbeaten Pensacola the Women’s Premier Soccer League title.
For her part, Uchenna Kanu was named the most outstanding player of the league for the 2019 season following her impressive performances all through the season.
