Ucheibe Proud of Super Falcons

Christy Ucheibe says she’s proud of what the Super Falcons achieved at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria crashed out of the tournament in the round of 16, but without losing a game in the regulation time.

The record African Champions started the campaign with a goalless draw against reining Olympics gold medalists Canada, beat co-hosts Australia in second game and forced to a draw by Republic of Ireland.

Ucheibe and her teammates, on Monday, then pushed European Champions England till end in the round of 16 and should have won the game if not for their profligacy.

The Super Falcons dominated the European champions, also had a player advantage for more than 30 minutes after Lauren James was shown a red card, but could not make it count.

England however won 4-2 on penalties to end the Super Falcons fairy tale run.

Despite the disappointment, Ucheibe is proud of what the squad accomplished, stating that their performance brought pride and respect to their nation.

“No words to describe this incredible team Super Falcons am proud to say my generation brought pride and respect back to our great nation.

“We showed the world what we are Nigeria. Thank you Nigerians for your love and support,” She posted on her Twitter handle.

The midfielder recorded the most successful tackles at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, before the Super Falcons crashed out.
