U-17 world cup winner warns against Golden Eaglets backlash

2013 FIFA U-17 world cup winner, Aliyu Abubakar has made an appeal to Nigerians not to come down hard on the Golden Eaglets after failing to advance to the final of the 2019 AFCON U-17.

Speaking with brila.net, the FC Slutsk of Belarus player urged Nigerians to support the team while noting that Manu Garba remains a very good coach who would fix any issues noticed in the team.
“I know Nigerians feel bad but I just want us to see the positives here. The team is still a work in progress and they already got the world cup ticket which is very important.
“I also want us to know that Manu Garba is a very good coach who knows this aspect of football very well”, he concluded.
The Golden Eaglets lost 10-9 via penalties to their Guinean counterparts in the first semi-final of the U-17 African Championship but already booked a world cup ticket.
