Transfer: Slavia Prague Withdraws from Olayinka Deal Over Increased Transfer Fee
47
Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdík has disclosed that Peter Olayinka’s return to the club has been halted due to Red Star Belgrade’s decision to increase the transfer fee.
Olayinka joined Red Star Belgrade from Slavia Prague last summer after five years in the Czech Republic.
He made 43 appearances for Red Star last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists —a decent season for him.
Despite this success with the Serbian giants, news broke two weeks ago that Olayinka was keen on returning to Slavia Prague. It even seemed like the deal was nearly finalized.
However, talks have recently stalled, and nothing concrete has emerged from Olayinka’s camp or the two clubs involved.
On Tuesday, Slavia Prague president revealed that the Club had already agreed on a deal with Red Star Belgrade, but the Serbian club made a U-turn and decided to increase their fee for Olayinka.
“In my nine years of working in football, I have not experienced a situation where the selling club officially confirmed the acceptance of an offer and later withdrew from this step,” Tvrdík said, per iFootball.
“The reasons are not important, relevant, or vicarious. It’s not done. Considering the position of the parties involved in the negotiations, as well as the shift in time, we are no longer pursuing this transfer.”
As things stand, there are significant doubts about Olayinka’s potential return to Slavia Prague, as the club president has confirmed that they are pulling out of the deal.
