Nigeria Professional Football League Champions Rivers United have been drawn against Watanga FC in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The draw made public today, saw the Pride of Rivers paired against the Liberian side and will host the first leg, before traveling to Monrovia for the reversed fixture.
The winner of the encounters over two legs will clash with holders Wydad Athletic Club awaits a place in the group stage.
Nigeria’s second representative in the African elite competition Plateau United will AS Stade Mandji of Gabon.
The winner of the two-legged games will also fave Esperance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia for a place in the group stage.
The first leg of the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League is between 9-11 September, while the second leg is between 16-18 September.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars have been drawn against ASFAR of Morocco in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Should the Sky Blue Stars progress they will face the winner of AAGBS of Guinea and Nouakchott CS of Mauritania.
Kwara United will also slug it out with AS Douanes of Niger in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The winner over the two legs will lock horns with RS Berkane in the second round.
