Niger Tornadoes skipper and shot stopper Mustapha Aliko has tipped his side to win the 2019 Federation cup trophy after beating Rivers United 2-1 to secure a place in the final of the Federation Cup.
Aliko speaking in a chat with brila.net said the team’s qualification to the final of the competition has given them another opportunity to have a shot at the Federation Cup title which the team lost two seasons ago against Akwa United on penalties.
He stressed that this time around, they will win the trophy for fans of the club to restore happiness following the sad feeling of having been relegated from the top flight already this season.
“We won the semi-final by throwing out a big side like Rivers United. We are happy, I don’t even know how to say this. All the players are happy, the fans are happy and the management as well. We’re just working towards making Nigerite happy by winning the Federation cup for them.”
Niger Tornadoes will meanwhile play Kano Pillars in the final of the 2019 Federation cup.
