Nigerian track and field star, Tobi Amusan has made history once again, this time off the track, by earning a spot in the University of Texas El Paso’s (UTEP) prestigious Hall of Fame.
The induction, part of UTEP’s 2024 class, makes Amusan the youngest-ever female athlete from the university to receive this honor.
Amusan, an alumna of UTEP, ran for the Miners from 2016 to 2017. In her two years at UTEP, she made an indelible mark, claiming a national title in the 100-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 12.57 seconds at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
She also earned three All-American honors and was the runner-up at the 2016 NCAA Championships. Throughout her collegiate career, Amusan secured five Conference USA titles and set school records in both the indoor 60-meter hurdles (7.98 seconds) and the 100-meter hurdles outdoors (12.57 seconds).

In addition to her athletic feats, Amusan earned a double degree from UTEP, for her dedication to excellence both on the track and in the classroom.

Amusan’s rise to global stardom has been nothing short of extraordinary.
She etched her name in history as the first Nigerian to win a World Athletics Championship gold medal, a triumph she achieved in Oregon.
Her world record in the 100-meter hurdles is a testament to her unparalleled speed and determination, among other records set by the Nigerian.
A three-time Olympian, Amusan has also dominated African and Commonwealth Games, racking up titles and solidifying her place as one of Nigeria’s greatest athletes.
