Tobi Amusan has dropped one spot in the latest World Athletics ranking.
Amusan, who lost her world women’s 100m hurdles crown to Jamaica’s Danielle Williams at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August, is now ranked 25th globally.
However, she still holds the No. 2 spot in the 100m hurdles, just behind the Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
In addition, her compatriot Ese Brume also experienced a drop in the rankings.
The 27-year-old long jump athlete was ranked 142nd last week after finishing fourth with a jump of 6.84m at the World Championships. Brume is now placed 150th in the overall women’s ranking.
The current top four athletes in the women’s long jump are Ivana Vuleta of Serbia, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Quanesha Burks from the USA, and Larissa Iapichino from Italy.
Both Amusan and Brume have the opportunity to improve their rankings if they perform well in their respective events at the upcoming Diamond League final in Oregon, USA next week.
Meanwhile, shot putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi is currently the top-ranked Nigerian athlete in the overall men’s ranking.
Enekwechi holds the 194th position, followed by sprinters Udodi Onwuzurike (316) and Ushoritse Itshekiri (514) in second and third place, respectively.
