A four goal thriller in the season’s opener at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium saw Kano Pillars denied three points by hosts Katsina United, who came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 result.
Newly promoted Katsina United were destined to get a result against the four-time League winners though they went behind early.
Abdullahi Biffo’s side were reduced to 10 men after Victor Dennis was given his marching orders in the 43rd minute for a bad tackle.
But with Katsina trailing, they managed to level before the end of the first half – obviously the numerical advantage working in their favor.
In the second half they went behind again but the one man advantage will count for something again.
They were awarded a penalty in additional time of stoppage time and it was converted by Destiny Ashadi.
The game will be followed by nine more fixtures on Sunday.
