Tobi Amusan expressed elation after clinching victory at the inaugural Jamaican Athletics Invitational held in Kingston after a recent setback in China.
Amusan’s remarkable performance saw her secure top spot with a world-leading time of 12.40s (0.9).
Defeating tough competition, including home favorite Danielle Williams; the current world champion who settled for second place, and American athlete Nia Ali finished in third place.
The victory in Jamaica marked a significant rebound for Amusan after facing disqualification in the Shanghai/Suzhou Diamond League event on April 27.
Despite the setback of being disqualified for a false start, the Nigerian ran under protest and beat current Olympic champions Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
“This is the healthiest I’ve been. It’s a pain-free season compared to other years. I told myself I’m not getting a DQ (on Sunday).
“I’m not the best of starters, but looking at how I executed today, it could have been better, but I am thankful for the win,” Amusan told World Athletics as relayed by Making of Champions.
