Former Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr has claimed some people wanted him to drop Moses Simon, while he was in charge of the team.
Simon struggled for form towards the end of Gernot Rohr’s tenure, but he’s one of the stand out stars in the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Nantes winger has contributed two goals ( 1 goals and 1 assist) in the two games for the Super Eagles so far.
He was voted as the man of the match in the 3-1 victory over Sudanese Falcons of Jediane on Saturday.
Reacting to the form of the player, Rohr said, Simon is one of his most trusted players, during his time with the Eagles and confirmed that, some people wanted him dropped when he wasn’t playing well.
“When I was coach, a lot of people wanted me to drop him, but he is very important to my team,” Rohr said on Canal Plus TV.
“He puts the team first and plays for all with ease. I love his attitude on the pitch and he’s a perfect gentleman off the pitch. I never doubted him.” The Franco-German revealed.
