Duke Udi has revealed he was called “crazy” by friends when he decided to take the Sunshine Stars job.
Udi, who quit as Coach of Osun United replaced Austin Eguavoen as Technical Adviser of the Owena waves with the club deep in relegation battle.
Speaking with brila.net , Udi said he opted for the NPFL side; despite their position in the relegation zone, because “I love challenges and taking responsibility.”
“Personally, I love challenges and like taking responsibility. When I was about to take the job, people thought I was crazy. I believed in the team.
“When I got here I shared my philosophy with the players and they cooperated. I also have Tony Alegbe, who’s has quite a vast knowledge of the game, and other assistants have been supportive.”
The former Nigeria International have won 12 points from a possible 18 and has guided them safely out of the relegation battle.
He insists the team will keep fighting till their top flight status next season is secured.
In the chat, Udi disclosed the team will fight for the 21 points left this season.
“We have 21 points to fight for and we’ll fight for that 21 points.”
