There Is No Special Way To Win Matches — Finidi

In the wake of another disappointing result in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Super Eagles Head Coach Finidi George has acknowledged the pressing need to optimize his team’s performance.

The Super Eagles’ dismal run continued with a 2-1 defeat to the Benin Republic in Abidjan.

Despite a promising start that saw them take the lead in the 27th minute, the team faltered and was out-coached for the remainder of the match.

Boasting one of the strongest squads in Africa, the Super Eagles have yet to secure a victory in the qualifiers, recording one loss and three draws so far.

Commenting on the winless streak, Finidi emphasized the importance of restoring his players to peak form, stating, “There is no special formula to win matches other than to get my players back to their best.”

“The aim is to win, but there is no special formula for that. We have to get the best out of the players. We also have to be committed and with that, I’m sure we are going to start winning games.”

“It’s disappointing because we have just three points from four games. So we have to get the players back for them to perform.”

The result leaves Benin Republic top of Group C with seven points, while Nigeria remains fifth with three points.
