Rivers Angels coach, Ogbonda Whyte has applauded the NFF’s decision to appoint Justin Madugu as interim head coach of the Super Falcons.
Whyte called the action “the right thing to do” and a step towards empowering indigenous coaches.
He believes Madugu’s experience with the team qualifies him for the role, including the ability to handle pressure.
“It’s been a decision taken by the Nigerian Football Federation to give Justin Madugu the job of the Super Falcons. I think it’s the right thing to do. It’s the right thing in the right direction.”
“For some years now, he has been working with our national team, and now that we are able to get an indigenous coach, I think all the coaches in Nigeria are happy.”
“We as a body are happy for Justin Madugu, and we hope that he is going to do well for the Nigerian Football Federation and the Super Falcons.”
“In as much as the pressure is on him, maybe with doubts about Nigeria’s performance at the AWC, I am sure we will perform. Nigeria, we are the giant of Africa when it comes to this football. So, nobody can dethrone us.”
