Fenerbahce head coach José Mourinho has praised Nigerian striker David Okereke for his remarkable record of scoring against three teams he has managed.
Okereke found the net on Monday during Gaziantep’s Super Lig clash against Fenerbahce at the Ulker Stadium Sukru Saracoglu, briefly equalizing before the hosts secured a 3-1 victory.
Despite the loss, Okereke etched his name in history as the first player to score against three different teams managed by Mourinho.
“I congratulate David Okereke. He is the first player to score against all three teams that I managed,” Mourinho said after the match, as reported by Trtspor.
“He scored against my teams while playing for Venezia, Cremonese and Gaziantep.”
The Nigerian forward first struck against Mourinho’s Roma during his stints with Venezia and Cremonese in Serie A.
His goal for Gaziantep on Monday added to his tally in the Super Lig this season, bringing his total to three goals and one assist.
Gaziantep appeared poised to secure a famous draw after Okereke’s equalizer, but Mourinho’s tactical adjustments dismantled their defence as goals from Rodrigo Becao and Edin Dzeko ensured a hard-fought win for Fenerbahce.
Okereke will look to build on his impressive record and contribute further to Gaziantep’s season as they aim to climb the Super Lig standings.
