Forward Terem Moffi will await the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to get his official invitation to join Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Moffi will replace the injured Victor Boniface in the final 25-man squad due to kick off their Cup of Nations campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.

Boniface reportedly picked up a groin injury during a Super Eagles training session and the player himself posted on social media to confirm his withdrawal from the team and tournament.

Meanwhile, Moffi who was in the initial 41-man provisional squad, has now been called up in his place.

But, the France-based forward’s arrival to camp will be delayed as CAF considers Nigeria’s application to have him replaced an injured teammate.

Informing BRL on the matter, a close Super Eagles source explained that the delay was merely procedural.

So far in his international career, Terem Moffi has scored 4 goals in 12 outings for the Super Eagles.
