Tennis: Loveth Donatus returns 12 Months after and is Determined to Win Big

After one year away from Tennis Loveth Donatus returned to action last month at the Dala Hard Court Championship, where she reached the quarter-finals losing to Patience Onebamhoin in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.

Playing through the pain barrier and rustiness from competitive action, Donatus served up a glimpse of what the fans had missed about the power forehand server.

In spite of the grit she showed on court, the player suffered a muscle cramped and was sidelined for two weeks, just in time to return to action again, this time in Lagos.

A qualifier in Kano, she’ll enter the first round at the Rain Oil Open and she’s eager to win this time around.

“Though I was injured after defeating the second seed (Christie Agugbom), my game has been fine,” she told www.brila.net.

“I’ve rested and will be ready to play again, although I know I would have done better in Kano if it weren’t for the injury.

“So, I believe I will do well in another by God’s Grace. It’s just a muscle cramp.”

She will face Bunmi Are in the first round of the championship.
