World Athletics has announced the nominees for the prestigious 2024 Women’s and Men’s Track Athlete of the Year awards, highlighting standout performances from the Paris 2024 Olympics and other major competitions.
Performances from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, World Athletics Indoor Championships, and top-tier one-day meetings were key factors in the nominations.
2024 Women’s Track Athlete of the Year Nominees
Julien Alfred (Saint Lucia): Olympic 100m champion and World Indoor 60m champion.
Faith Kipyegon (Kenya): Olympic 1500m champion in Paris, setting a world record in the process.
Beatrice Chebet (Kenya): Double Olympic gold medalist in the 5000m and 10,000m, and World 10,000m champion.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA): Olympic gold medalist in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay, and current World 400m hurdles record holder.
Marileidy Paulino (Dominican Republic): Olympic 400m champion and Diamond League 400m winner.
Gabby Thomas (USA): Olympic 200m champion and part of the victorious 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams in Paris.
2024 Men’s Track Athlete of the Year Nominees
Rai Benjamin (USA): Olympic 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay champion, and World 400m hurdles leader.
Grant Holloway (USA): Olympic 110m hurdles champion, and World Indoor 60m hurdles champion with a world record.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway): Olympic 5000m champion and holder of the World 3000m record.
Noah Lyles (USA): Olympic 100m champion and bronze medalist in the 200m.
Letsile Tebogo (Botswana): Olympic 200m champion and World 200m leader.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya): Olympic 800m champion and Diamond League 800m winner.
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony later this this month.
