Team Nigeria’s Joy Udo-Gabriel, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma & Grace Nwokocha booked a place in the final of women’s 4x100m at the ongoing 2022 World Athletics Championships.
Nigeria finished third with a season’s best 42.68s in the semi-final heat to join USA, Spain, Great Britain, Jamaica, Germany, Italy and Switzerland in the final of the event.
Their return time of 42.68s is now the 7th fastest time Nigeria has ran in this event, and they’ll need a better finish to stand any chance of making to it the podium in the final.
Last time Nigeria reached the final of the Women’s 4x100m final was at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu.
Meanwhile the men’s 4x100m team in Raymond Ekevwo, Godson Brume, Udodi Onwuzurike and Favour Ashe failed to reach the final.
The quartet suffered a botched baton exchange and were subsequently disqualified.
