Taye Taiwo drums support for Eagles, Lauds Skipper Mikel

Ex-International, Taye Ismaila Taiwo has expressed his immense happiness on the state of things with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Speaking in an exclusive telephone interview with brila.net’s Babafemi Raji, the former AC Milan of Italy said: “I’m very happy with the guys in the team right now”.

The former FC Lausanne-Sport defender who joined his new Swedish club Eskilstuna at the beginning of the current campaign on a short-term contract was full of praise for the lads during the interview.

Taiwo became a Super Eagles fans favourite due to his effectiveness on the left wing back and his trademark left-footed strikes from long range.

The former Marseille left-back also drums for support for the Super Eagles ahead of the World Cup in Russia.

“All the players need to succeed in Russia is the support, and prayers of Nigerians” Taiwo told brila.net.

Taiwo also made remarks on Captain John Obi Mikel’s leadership attributes, having played together through the ranks of the National team.

“Mikel is  top professional, He’s a fantastic leader”, I just want him to carry all the guys along in everything because he can’t do it all by himself”

Taye Taiwo, however, declined comments on returning to the Eagles, saying…

“I’m not thinking about returning, Nigeria is a country full of talent, and we can see that the guys in the team are doing very well”.

Taiwo made a total of 54 appearances for the Super Eagles scoring 8 goals in the process.
