Nigeria female wrestlers are writing their names in gold at the on going African Wrestling Championship in Tunisia.
A total of four gold medals has been win by the athletes as they continue their dominance of the continent.
Mercy Genesis won the Country’s first gold medal at the African Wrestling Championships in Tunisia following her victory overEgypt’s Nada Mohamed in the final of 50kg women’s category.
Before Odun Adekuoroye followed up with Nigeria‘s second goldmedal after another final victory over Cameroon’s Joseph Tiako57kg category.
The Four times African champion, earlier defeated Senegal’s Jeannette Sambou by pin fall (4-0).
Fast rising star Balogun Idowu Sunmisola added the third gold with a 1-0 win over Nour Jeljeli in the women’s 65kg category.
While Commonwealth champion Blessing Oborududu won Nigeria‘s fourth gold medal at the championship , she defeated Anta Sambou in the women’s 68kg category.
Meanwhile , Nigeria’s Aminat Adeniyi will meet Tunisia’s Marwa Amri in the women’s 62kg final at the ongoing Africa Wrestling Championships in Tunisia.
A win for her means she wil be winning the title for the fifth time.
Head of Nigeria Wrestling team, Purity Akuh has revealed that the trio of Odunayo Adekuoroye, Aminat Adeniyi, and Blessing Oborududu will be embarking on two-week training tournaments tour of Europe as they intensify preparations towards Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
