Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers delivered a match-winning cameo off the bench, scoring twice as Rangers crushed Kilmarnock 6-0 in a resounding Scottish Premiership victory on Thursday night.
Rangers captain James Tavernier set the tone in the 37th minute, converting an Ianis Hagi assist to give the home side a slim lead heading into half-time.
The second half saw a relentless Rangers attack tear apart the visitors. Danilo doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute, again assisted by Hagi, before Hamza Igmane struck two minutes later to make it 3-0.
Kilmarnock’s defense fell apart as Sam Cerny added a fourth in the 61st minute.
Dessers entered the fray as a substitute for Jefte shortly after and wasted no time making his mark. Just eight minutes later, the Nigerian striker scored his first goal of the night, showing his sharpness in front of goal.
He completed his brace in the 77th minute, connecting with a perfectly timed cross from Tavernier to seal a commanding victory for Rangers.
The 29-year-old forward has been in fine form this season, tallying 12 goals and three assists across 23 matches in all competitions.
Despite being overlooked for Nigeria’s recent AFCON 2025 qualifiers, Dessers demonstrated his value with an emphatic performance that silenced critics.
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun also featured in the game, delivering a composed performance at the back as Rangers maintained a clean sheet.
Dessers will look to continue proving his worth as an elite striker as Rangers pursue their domestic and European ambitions.
