Super Falcons to camp in Australia for the World Cup

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the WNT, Super Falcons, will camp in Australia for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons spent the last international break in Turkey where they played two friendlies against World Cup debutants Haiti and co-host New Zealand.

The new zeal and winning mentality in the camp saw the team defeat Haiti 2-1, and then wrap up the camping exercise with an emphatic 3-0 win against New Zealand.

“With the bigger picture of the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup competition coming up in Australia and New Zealand this summer in mind, the Board admonished the technical crew to work even harder to give confidence to the players [sic].

“They can indeed stand their own against the world’s best. Board stated that it will do even more to prepare the team for the big challenge with another grade A friendly match in Europe and a two-week camping in Australia before the kick-off of the tournament on 20 July,” the NFF statement read.

Meanwhile the board also three its weight behind head coach Randy Waldrum, who has been under pressure from a cross section of fans and the media.
