Super Falcons striker Kanu relishes WAFCON debut

Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu is hoping for a successful campaign with Nigeria at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Kanu is one of the debutants in Nigeria’s 25-player squad for the tournament holding Morocco.

Nigeria is drawn in Group C along with South Africa, Burundi and Botswana, a which Kanu herself believes could see the holders emerge from into the knockout phase.

“It feels exciting because it is my first time and I’m expecting nothing but a good performance from myself and the entire team through out the tournament,” the Striker said.

Kanu represented Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and that same year, she also feature in the U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The 26 year-old, who plays for Mexican Liga MX Femenil club Tigres UANL, made her International debut on 8 April 2019 in a 1–2 friendly loss to Canada.
