The Super Falcons of Nigeria have maintains their spot as Africa’s highest-ranked women’s football team, maintaining a global ranking of 36th in the final FIFA standings for 2024.
Despite a challenging year that saw them exit the Paris Olympics in the group stage, the nine-time African champions continue to dominate the continent.
Released on Friday by FIFA, the latest rankings reaffirm Nigeria’s position ahead of strong competitors like South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana, who hold the 53rd, 61st, 62nd, and 66th spots globally.
The Falcons’ recent international results, including victories over Algeria and a narrow loss to France, had little impact on their stagnant ranking.
However, Nigeria’s resilience in African women’s football remains evident as they head into a new year of competition.
Here’s a look at the top 10 African teams in the final 2024 FIFA rankings:
Nigeria (Super Falcons) – 36th globally
South Africa (Banyana Banyana) – 53rd globally
Morocco – 61st globally
Zambia – 62nd globally
Ghana – 66th globally
Cameroon – 68th globally
Ivory Coast – 71st globally
Tunisia – 74th globally

Though the Super Falcons fell short at the Olympics, their dominant position on the African continent remains unchallenged.
