Super Falcons forward Toni Payne shared that the team is in high spirits and preparing well for the Olympics.
While acknowledging the difficulty of their group, she is confident in the team’s ability to compete against the best.
“The training camp is going really well. I feel really comfortable here,” Payne said. “It’s a bit hot, but I think this is the perfect place to get us ready for the Olympics.”
She spoke on playing for Nigeria at the Olympics, especially after their strong performance at the last Women’s World Cup in Australia. Competing at such a high level is a major motivation for her and the team.
“Obviously, being in the World Cup, that was such an amazing experience, so, being able to compete again at the world stage with this team is such a really good opportunity. I’m really excited.”
Tony Payne is looking forward to the matches ahead, particularly against Brazil.
“Brazil is going to be a tough team. They’re very talented, but I think as Nigeria, we are at the level, so it’s going to be a good match. I think that we can get a good result against them.”
