Super Falcons: Payne Optimistic About Olympic Preparations

Super Falcons forward, Toni Payne, has expressed optimism regarding the team’s preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games.

The players are in high spirits, and the camp continues to bubble with enthusiasm.

Payne acknowledged the challenge posed by their difficult group but emphasized that the team is ready to compete against the best.

She is particularly excited to represent Nigeria at the Olympics following the team’s impressive performance at the last Women’s World Cup in Australia.

“The training camp is going really well. I feel really comfortable here. It’s a bit hot, but I think this is the perfect place to get us ready for the Olympics,” Payne said.

“As the team is getting together, it definitely feels like it’s tournament time again. Obviously being in the World Cup, that was such an amazing experience.

“So being able to compete again on the world stage with this team is such a really good opportunity. I’m really excited.”

Payne highlighted the challenge of facing Brazil but remained confident in Nigeria’s abilities.

“Brazil, it’s going to be a tough team, they’re very talented, but I think us, Nigeria, we are at the level, so it’s going to be a good match. And I think that we can get a good result against them,” she added.

With the training camp in full swing, Payne and her teammates are gearing up to showcase their talents and make Nigeria proud on the Olympic stage as they will begin their campaign in a rather tough group against Brazil on the 25th of July, 7pm local time.

Then they will play against world champions Spain at 7pm local time and finally against former World cup winners, Japan at 5pm local time to wrap up the group stage of the tournament.
