Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum remains confident about his team’s prospects at the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games, despite being placed in a challenging group.
The former African champions are set to compete in Group C alongside Brazil, former world champions Japan, and reigning world champions Spain.
Waldrum revealed his squad for the women’s football event on Thursday, expressing optimism about their potential performance.
The Super Falcons recently impressed at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, advancing from a tough group that included reigning Olympic champions Canada and Australia.
“I think this one could be a special group,” Waldrum told ESPN.
“We’ve shown our quality against some of the best teams in the world at the World Cup and hopefully, we’ll do the same at the Olympics.”
The Super Falcons will kick off their campaign against Brazil at the Stade Bordeaux on July 25, followed by a match against Spain on July 28, and their final group game against Japan on July 31.
The latter two matches will take place at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
