Super Falcons can surpass their best performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup (1999) by advancing beyond the quarter-final rounds of the tournament later this year in France according to midfielder Osarenoma Igbinovia.
Nigeria’s Falcons were drawn in Group A alongside host nation France, former world championship Norway and highly rated South Korea.
But while many have written off the chances of Thomas Dennerby’s team to make any real impact in the tournament, Igbinovia believes with proper preparation and doggedness the 9 times African champions can stun the rest of the watching world.
‘I know we’re in the same group with the host Country, France, but if our preparation goes very well, We’ll go beyond the quarter-final,’ she told brila.net.
‘ Nevertheless, we just have to take each game as they come; every game has its own strategy, and you can’t outrightly predict the outcome of a football match.
‘ I know most people have written off this team, but I’m certain with the right preparation and motivation, this team will go far.’
