Super Falcons Can Bounce Back Against Japan – Gusau

Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau believes that the Super Falcons still have a good chance of making it to the quarter-final of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Women’s Football event.

The Super Falcons have lost two group games; both ended 1-0 against Brazil and Spain. Their last group match comes up on Wednesday against Japan and the team has only an outside chance of going through even with a win.

So far in the tournament, goalscoring has eluded Randy Waldrum’s side and against the World Champions on Sunday it proved to be the team’s Achilles heel.

Analyzing Nigeria’s chances, the NFF President said, “First of all, I must say I am proud of the girls. We created a lot of chances.

“I say that I am pleased with the girls because I know that it is not easy to play with the world champions. We created our chances. I know that the end has not come yet. We can remedy the situation on Wednesday.

“There will be marked improvement in their next match against Japan on Wednesday,” Gusau told sportsvillagesquare.com.

Nigeria needs victory against Japan on Wednesday to keep their hopes of qualifying for the next round alive.
