Super Eagles Won’t Get Too Confident – Ogunmodede on AFCON Qualifiers

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede said that the team will not approach their remaining two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with complacency, despite needing just one point to secure a ticket.

As the Super Eagles prepare for their final two matches in the AFCON qualifiers, the team will officially open camp on November 11.

Currently sitting atop the group table with 10 points, Nigeria only requires one more point to confirm their place in the tournament.

Addressing concerns that the team may relax due to the minimal points needed, Ogunmodede firmly stated that the Super Eagles remain fully focused on winning every match, regardless of the qualification scenario.

“For every match we want to go like a cup final, we want to win all matches,” Ogunmodede said.

“I’m not even aware that we just need a point. The mentality he (Augustine Eguavoen) gave everyone is to go to these matches and win regardless of numbers of points left to qualify”

“The first priority is to qualify and secondly to win all games. We take all games as they come and maximum 3 points is what is important to us,” he added.
