Super Eagles caretaker coach, Austin Eguavoen has issued a stern warning to his players to avoid underestimating the Benin Republic ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The fixture will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
In their previous encounter, Benin Republic secured a 2-1 victory over Nigeria during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in June.
Benin’s manager, Gernot Rohr knows the Super Eagles very well, having coached the Super Eagles for almost six years.
Eguavoen disclosed the importance of respecting the Cheetahs:
“We will treat Benin with utmost respect. No doubt about that because if you disrespect people, you will have a problem. We will play them with big respect, but then, this is our home,” he stated.
Following this match, the Super Eagles are scheduled to face Rwanda.
