Gernot Rohr said his Super Eagles won’t lose to the Benin Republic when both sides meet for a place in the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday.
The Squirrels are unbeaten at home for eight years and their coach Michel Dussuyer said they aren’t ready to relinquish the record when they the time African champions come visiting.
Rohr’s won the meeting between both sides 2-1 at the Nest champions in Uyo back in 2019 and the Franco-German tactician said he is aware the Squirrels will try to give his side a difficult game at home.
“Everybody wants to beat Nigeria, but Nobody could beat us until now in the qualifiers. So, I believe we will not lose there, it’ll be a big challenge to win there, they didn’t lose any game in 8 years.
“They’re used to play at home, they have a good ground, they’ll have also I think 10,000 people in the stadium. So, they’ll want to beat Nigeria, it is normal but we also want to win there it’s a big challenge, they didn’t lose a match for 8 years.” He told brila.net.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will depart for the Benin Republic on Friday ahead of Saturday’s match.
The match will be played at Stade Charles de Gaulle, Porto-Novo.
