Gernot Rohr is confident the Super Eagles will be ready for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, despite poor warm-up games against rivals Cameroon.
Super Eagles will kick off their qualifying campaign for the Qatar World Cup against Cape Verde and Liberia in September.
The team recent engaged in two exhibition matches against Cameroon Austria, but their performance earned them, nothing but criticisms from the fans and media.
Speaking ahead of the qualifiers, Rohr said he’s unmoved by the showing against Cameroon and remain confident the boys will turn up for the qualifiers.
“I think we’ll be ready in September for our world cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.”He said.
Rohr added that, the game against Cape Verde will be difficult, because of how the tiny Africans plays.
“In the beginning of September we only have a few days to prepare and four days later we have to play in Cape Verde. The two first matches are very very important . When you saw the result of Cape Verde against Cameroon they beat them 3-1 on their synthetic pitch, we know already that it’ll be a very difficult match.” He said.
