Super Eagles Still Have Much to Prove – Iwobi
103
Midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, citing the team’s quality and determination.
The Super Eagles will kick off their qualification campaign next month against the Benin Republic.
Despite their poor form – having failed to win any of their four matches in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers – Iwobi believes the team has what it takes to secure a spot in the tournament.
“There’s still a lot to fight for; we have much to prove,” Iwobi stated in a video posted on the Super Eagles’ X account.
“We know the quality we have in this team, and we need to show it consistently for Nigeria, just like we do for our club sides.
“The fans expect a lot from us, and we expect a lot from ourselves. We’re ready to get the points we need to qualify.”
The Super Eagles’ encounter with the Cheetahs will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, on September 7.
The team will then travel to Kigali, where they’ll face Rwanda three days later.
