The Super Eagles of Nigeria are prepared for their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Rwanda on Tuesday.
Coach Eguavoen: Team in Good Shape
Speaking ahead of the match, Coach Eguavoen says the team is ready and focused.
“We have the right mentality now, and the mood in camp is excellent. Everyone in camp is eager for us to pick up the three points in Rwanda and stay firmly on top of the qualifying table. We are here for business, and I am happy that everyone is on the same page.”
“I am also happy that we have arrived here in good time, and the players can rest well while we look forward to the official training on Monday afternoon.”
Super Eagles Arrive in Kigali
The Nigerian team left Uyo’s Victor Attah International Airport at 12:48 PM on Sunday and landed at Kigali International Airport at 5:20 PM local time.
The delegation, led by NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the 23 players and team officials.
Captain William Ekong: Focused on the Task
Team captain William Ekong also spoke about the team’s mission in Kigali and revealed the challenge Rwanda could pose.
“There is nothing much to say other than that we are here for a purpose. Our target is the three points, and we have spoken among ourselves on the imperative of going hard for it from the first blast of the referee’s whistle.”
“It is going to be a tough game because Rwanda have a good team and got a point from their first match. We must not relent throughout the 90 minutes.”
Rwanda’s Challenge and Form
Rwanda managed a 1-1 draw in their opening match against Libya, making Tuesday’s match crucial for both teams.
The Super Eagles will need a win to strengthen their position in the group.
The match will take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali and is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM Rwanda time (2 PM Nigeria time).
