Super Eagles-eligible forward George Ilenikhena experienced a terrifying ordeal on Saturday night when he was robbed at gunpoint.
The incident occurred on Rue Gustave-Eiffel after the player and a friend returned from a birthday party.
Reports from Le Parisien reveal that the Monaco forward was driving his Volkswagen Golf when four armed individuals forced him to stop.
The robbers, armed with handguns, threatened Ilenikhena and demanded his luxury shoes, phone, and car keys.
The Lagos-born star complied, but as the attackers tried to flee in his car, they lost control and crashed it.
They ultimately fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind. Fortunately, neither Ilenikhena nor his friend sustained any injuries.
Ongoing Investigation
Local authorities are investigating the case, though the suspects remain at large.
Despite the incident, Monaco will be hoping the robbery does not impact Ilenikhena psychologically as they prepare for their next game.
The 18-year-old forward has shown promise this season, contributing two goals and one assist in 14 appearances, including a memorable goal against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Ilenikhena, who was born in Lagos to Nigerian parents, moved to France at the age of three. Although he has represented France at youth level, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior international level, provided he does not feature in a competitive game for Les Bleus.
