Stanley Nwabali, has stated that the Super Eagles are not succumbing to pressure despite the high stakes of their upcoming match against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, the fixture holds significant importance for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup dreams.
The Super Eagles who have yet to register a victory in qualifying campaign can’t afford to drop more points.
The team dropped points against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, leaving them with just two points from possible six.
Failure to clinch victory against Bafana Bafana could potentially jeopardize the Super Eagles’ prospects in the qualifiers.
Despite the pressure mounting, Nwabali expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the impending challenge.
“There is no pressure, we just take the game one at a time, we just have to put ourselves together and try to win the game (against South Africa), then move on to the next game against Benin in Abidjan,” he told the Super Eagles media.
Victory over South Africa will boost their chances of progressing in the qualifying rounds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“All we need now is to win this game and fight hard to qualify for the World Cup. Everybody is training hard and looking forward to the game,” The goalkeeper concluded.
