Super Eagles: Nigerian Coaches Shortlisted to Replace Peseiro

The Nigeria Football Federation has shortlisted three coaches to take charge of the Super Eagles, on the interim, for the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sao Tome and Principe.

Following the expiration of his contract as Super Eagles coach two months ago, Jose Peseiro may not be on the bench for game.

The NFF, however, is discussing with Peseiro over a new contract, but it’s very unlikely they’ll reach conclusion before the game.

Among the coaches shortlisted to stand in for the game are Austin Eguavoen, who is also the head of the NFF Technical Department. Enyimba FC head coach, Finidi George and former U23 gaffer Salisu Yusuf.

Nigeria’s final match of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers is slated for September 10, in Uyo and the camp opens on Monday, September 4.

The first-leg match between the teams was played in Morocco, and it ended 10-0 in favor of the Three-time African Champions.
