Super Eagles Must Prepare for “Stubborn Neighbors” Benin Republic – Garba Lawal

Former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal has warned that the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin will be even tougher than the game against South Africa.
Speaking in an interview with Brila Media, Lawal spoke on the importance of mental readiness and a strong attitude from the Nigerian players.
“Whenever we play Benin, it’s always a tough game,” Lawal said. “I believe it’s going to be tougher than the South African game because Benin always gives us trouble.
“We share a border, so their players always want to prove themselves against us.”
Lawal pointed out that Benin already has three points from a win in one of their games, which will motivate them to come out stronger.
“They will try to come more determined than before,” he added.
The former midfielder shared the need for the Super Eagles to adjust their mindset and learn from the draw against South Africa.
“I hope the mental aspect of our players will improve. The attitude needs to change, and with the new coach and setup, I believe they can turn things around.”
