Super Eagles Have A Chance Against South Africa – Okpara

  • Okpara earned 18 Caps for Nigeria

  • The former Midfielder has called for fans to get behind Finidi

  • Super Eagles will the first-leg tie against South Africa

Former Super Eagles midfielder Godwin Okpara believes Finidi George can grab his first competitive win for Nigeria when his team faces South Africa in their World Cup qualifying match in Uyo this Friday.

Nigeria will be without some key players, but Okpara told Brila.net that if the Super Eagles coaches build a cohesive team, South Africa will be no threat.

“Nigeria is so big that there are many players apart from the ones playing abroad. We have home-based players too,” Okpara said.

“It’s unfortunate the matches are happening now that the season has ended, but we have good players and they can deliver.”

“Whoever is invited to the national team is coming to deliver, to represent their country with 100% effort,” he added.

“We need to show that we can win even without our key players like Osimhen.”

Okpara also expressed confidence in the Super Eagles coach, Finidi George.

“With his experience, Coach Finidi can manage the team and give us the results we need,” he said. “We shouldn’t depend on just a few players. Let’s show that we can perform well without them.”

“It’s very important to win these games. The players and coaches know what is at stake, and I believe they will put in their best to achieve victory.”
