Super Eagles stars Frank Onyeka and Nathan Tella made significant contributions in the DFB-Pokal, each registering assists to help their respective teams secure spots in the next round.
Frank Onyeka, on loan at Augsburg from Brentford, continues to impress, adding another assist to his tally during Augsburg’s 3-0 win over Schalke 04.
The victory seals Augsburg’s place in the Round of 16.
Leaving Brentford for more game time, Onyeka has become an impactful figure for Augsburg. He grabbed an assist on his debut and followed it up with another in Augsburg’s recent 3-2 Bundesliga win over St. Pauli.
In the DFB-Pokal clash, Onyeka started and played 58 minutes, assisting the opening goal and making key contributions to control the midfield.
His performance adds to the growing belief that he will keep improving his game to remain a starter for the team.
Meanwhile, Nathan Tella also made his mark with a crucial assist, helping Bayer Leverkusen secure a commanding 3-0 win over Elversberg in the Round of 32.
Despite limited playing time this season—only 92 minutes across four appearances—Tella earned his first start of the campaign at the BayArena and made the most of it. He set up the opening goal, providing a spark for Leverkusen’s dominant performance.
Tella played 69 minutes, making 40 touches, completing 26 passes, and delivering two key passes into the attacking third. His work rate was impressive, contributing defensively with two tackles, six recoveries, and five ground duels won.
His compatriot Victor Boniface also featured, coming off the bench in the 79th minute to close out the match.
Although Tella has yet to cement his place in the starting lineup, his performance signals promise. With a contract that runs until 2028, he will have to prove himself this season to become a regular in Xabi Alonso’s side.
