Super Eagles Coach Peseiro rates Nigerian clubs after poor weekend on the continent

Nigeria’s Men NT coach, Jose Peseiro says he’s proud of the performance of Nigerian clubs, Kwara United, Plateau United and Rivers United, despite bowing out of CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively.

Kwara United lost out to RS Berkane of Morocco 3-3 on aggregate in the Confederation Cup, while NPFL Champions Rivers United and Plateau United were sent parking from the CAF Champions League by Wydad Casablanca and Esperance respectively.

Peseiro on Saturday was in Tunisia for the game between Plateau United and Esperance, before traveling for Morocco to see Wydad Casablanca vs Rivers United the next day.

Both trip ends in futility as Plateau United lost by a controversial goal, while 10-man Rivers United were whitewashed 6-0 by the holders in the second leg of the final preliminary round.

Reacting to the poor weekend, Peseiro insists, he’s proud of the teams, adding that he believes they deserved more for their efforts.

” Very proud to attend the CAF Champions League games with Rivers United and Plateau United last weekend. Kwara United FC also played for the Confederations Cup.” The Portuguese said.

“Although the results were not what we wanted, congratulations to all three teams. They fought hard and deserved more.”

Plateau United and Rivers United drop to CAF Confederations Cup, while Kwara United kissed the tournament goodbye.
