Super Eagles Call-Up Excites Aribo

Glasgow Rangers star midfielder, Joe Aribo has disclosed that he’s happy to finally get an international call-up into the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The player stated that his inclusion in the Super Eagles set up is a dream come true and he’s ready to fight for his place in the team.

The 23-year-old was included in Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr’s 23-man squad for the September 10 friendly game against Ukraine.

Aribo is expected to rival West Brom midfielder Semi Ajayi in the battle of replacement for former Eagles captain Obi Mikel who called time on his international career last month.

He said: “I am very happy, it is a dream come true to receive the call-up.

“My agent was the first person to inform me that I was invited to the Super Eagles. I had spoken to one of the assistant coaches in the team before the invitation.”

Aribo has played in the Europa League qualifiers and the domestic league for the Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and scored three goals in his first seven games.

The high profile friendly at the Dnipro Arena, Kyiv, will be Super Eagles’ first game since they beat the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 to win the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
