Sunshine Stars welcome suspension of “behind closed door” ban

Sunshine Stars have released a statement lauding the decision of the LMC to “temporarily” lift the behind closed doors order on the team’s home matches for the remainder of the 2016/17 NPFL season.

Sunshine Stars were banished to Ijebu Ode and ordered to play behind closed doors following crowd troubles at the Akure Township stadium.

According to the release, Chairman Interim Management Committee of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), the parental body of Sunshine Stars FC, Gbenga Elegbeleye expressed happiness with the LMC decision and extolled the leadership of the League Governing body.

“It’s a welcome development to allow the fans in for our home games. The club is happy about it.”

“The LMC is living up to expectations. They have been running the league very well. I like the leadership provided by Shehu Dikko, and his team is doing a great job,” Elegbeleye said.

The restriction is rested for the next two home matches; this weekend’s matchday 29 game against Nasarawa United FC and week 31 tie against El Kanemi Warriors FC next weekend, all still to be played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, upon which a full decision will be made on the ban.

Elegbeleye also said the club hopes to meet the conditions of the LMC in order to facilitate a speedy overturn of the Stadium ban will do every possibly to quickly see to the LMC overturning the ban.
