“Sunshine Stars have the potential to beat the drop”, says New boss Deji Ayeni

Newly-appointed head coach Deji Ayeni says Sunshine Stars have the qualities to win the fight against relegation.

The management of the Owena Whales employed the Ekiti United head coach as a permanent replacement for Gbenga Ogunbote who resigned his appointment last month.

Ayeni will take charge of the team from interim boss Kayode Emmanuel who was on the bench for the 2-1 defeat to Lobi Stars last Sunday.

“Professionally this is a good move for me, not just because of money, but the challenge involved. I felt pains leaving my former team, it’s really was a highly emotional thing.”_ The former Ekiti United coach said.

“I am just an instrument of destiny fulfillment and I know God is going to prove himself again. I must say that in football it is not over until it is over; the situation we are in presently is very redeemable. The team has a lot of potentials and I believe if we put all hands on deck we shall succeed.” He said.

The young coach who is renowned for his beautiful and fast pace brand of football has a renewable option on his contract.

Sunshine Stars are currently languishing in the relegation zone and haven’t won a single since January.

They last won a match against Rangers on the 31st of January and they have gone 17 games without a win since that time.
