Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies reignited their CAF Women’s Champions League title defense, on Wednesday, with a 4-0 victory over Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in Morocco.
After a shock 1-0 loss to debutants FC Masar on Saturday, Sundowns re-grouped, with all four goals coming in the first half.
Melinda Kgadiete netted a brace, while Joyce Rabale and Lelona Daweti also found the back of the net to seal the comfortable win.
The result was a clear statement of intent from the South African champions, who controlled the game from start to finish, enjoying the lion share of possession with little resistance from the Ethiopian side.
For CBE, who suffered their second consecutive loss after a 3-0 defeat to Edo Queens, reach the end of their debut campaign in the competition.
Sundowns now face a crucial decider on Saturday against Edo Queens, where a win will keep their title defense alive in Morocco.
Group B leaders, Edo Queens who played out a goalless draw with fellow debutant, FC Masar, will also look to pick all 3 points to seal their qualification.
